Last night I had dinner with some friends from the UK and it made me think. They (my friends) expressed a gratitude for this country that I wonder if we as Americans ever achieve. As a matter of fact they really want to move here and probably will but it takes a great deal of paperwork and time to make that happen. They also wished they could take a bunch of gas back to England with them because we pay so much less then they do! Did you know that it is not possible for them to fly the Union Jack in their own yard without getting permission from their neighbors! I couldn't believe that. They gushed about how wonderful the USA is and also said that it is the toughest country in the world to get into. It just set me to thinking about all the wonderful blessings and opportunities that are mine because I live in this country. I can basically do anything I want as long as it is legal, moral and ethical (which I hope I would do anyway) my options are limitless. We are so truly blessed here and they commented how important it is to be conservative because England is so very liberal and once you make the change you can never go back. This is coming from someone who lives in a very liberal country, uses socialized medicine (which by the way he has to pay $500 a month for to get really good care) has very high cost of living (gas is $12.oo a gallon) and would give anything to live here in the states. Do we know what we have in America? Are we willing to do what is necessary to keep what we have? Oh sure, we have our problems (some are very severe problems) but we still live in the home of the Free because of the Brave.
We have an election coming up and I hope that you will take seriously the responsibility that is ours to elect the best person for the job of leading us for the next 4 years. There is a lot of weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth going on but are we really taking responsibility for what is happening in this country. After all, we have the ultimate say, choose wisely.

Ain't no place like home, I always say.
Here Here! Or is it Hear Hear? I can never remember . . .
Exactly! What a great post, I hope everyone reads it!
PROUD TO BE AN AMAERICAN!
Awesome post! More people should read this! My husband and I both come from a family of recent immigrants and I agree whole heartedly with the sentiments you express. America is the greatest country on earth. Sad that many of those who are lucky enough to be born here and live here take it all for granted. Roxanne, thanks for this thought-provoking post.
Hello, thanks for checking out our blog. The plates were so fun to make, your grandkids would love them. Just use Modge-Podge, heavy scrapbook paper and glitter. Use the standard glitter though because the real fine glitter doesn't cover as well. Also, don't forget a final coat of MP it will seal the glitter and paper. If you want detailed instructions email me at marlacall@yahoo.com. Good Luck! Love The Tipsy Girls
