I love this particular hymn, I cry every time I watch it or sing it. Music is the one constant that can move me even when I don't want to be moved. It is the one constant and immovable link to my heart and soul.
Thank you for stopping by my blog even if it was at a time when any sane person would be sleeping. ;0) The hymn was beautiful. I love music. My husband comes from a family of big time singers. He has 2 uncles who sing in the Tabernacle Choir right now. His grandparents retired from it 25 years ago. Almost everyone in the family teaches, performs, graduated with a degree in it, etc. My dad is a singer (a very good one as well) and performs with a local choral group. His abilities didn't rub off on me, nor has being involved with all the other musical geniuses for the past 10 years. Every week at church, I pretend that if I sing really loud, it will make me sound better. It hasn't worked yet.
Roxanne, this is so moving! Thank you for sharing. I wish I can sing and worship that way. Alas, I'm not the singer in the family, but it doesn't prevent me from appreciating beautiful worship music.
A most wonderful song with an amazing arrangement. Don't tell anyone but I have a crush on Mack Wilberg. I want to meet him and have him sign one of my CD's.. "To my friend Debbie, a true inspiration!" Hey, did I tell you I met Liz Lemon-Swindle today? Very Cool !!
Roxanne, this is one of my most favorite hymns, as well. It is based on an old Celtic tune which is part of why I love it so much. The old Celtic folk songs just really resonate with me. I am almost all Scandinavian but it is the sliver of Welsh that defines me for some reason.
There is something about music that does move you...I love music and have for a very long time and fortunately my kids do too...I sang a lot while I was pregnant with both of them...mostly with Kooper I was the Primary Chorister, always practicing. Plus I was in acapella in high school....music soothes my soul!!!
